Many of today’s youngsters and grown-ups’ hobby is playing video games. I bet that once in your life, as parents you had played video games, too (even if you’re not a kid anymore...) It’s always good to have a flash-back to those good old days (or now, when the video games industry are getting bigger and wider with lots of new generation consoles like XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, and PlayStation 3. All I want to share and discuss with you is this classic question:
“Do you think that sexy costumes is a MUST?”
Since the beginning of Video Games era (Atari, SNES, Sega Megadrive, etc.), you’ve known lots of female (sometimes male) characters with sexy, attractive costumes. The famous examples are LARA CROFT on Tomb Raider Series and Jill Valentine in Resident Evil Series! And if you play “Street Fighter” or “Dead or Alive” fighting game series, notice that the characters also wearing sexy, kinky clothes!
The topic to discuss is simple: is that applicable and necessary? Because... as a matter of facts, they’re nothing but some eye-candy attractions, no protection points at all (seemed a bit out of our logical ideas of security of being hit or wounded), and this phenomenon had become something ‘ordinary’ that missed our concern.
I don’t think of their sexy costumes as a contradictive; as they’re HOT, they’re also given a boost of spirit when playing games (especially to boys and men)... but what about you?
This picture of Lady No (or Nouhime) is an example of sexy-dressed female warriors in Samurai Warriors series. The sexy wife of Nobunaga Oda isn’t too young anymore, but a woman in her 30s. But she’s still looks sexy, smart, tempting and alluring, is that so, Oda-san? ^_^

Imagine that you’re a warrior getting ready to fight on the battlefield. There’s a range of weapons to choose. Here’s some popular ones (in reality/history and fantasy fighting games, of course):
SWORDS (RAPIER, BLADE, SCIMITAR, KATANA, etc.)
Your all-time favorite hand, close-range weapon. Kanetsugu also chose it besides his good old charms. Swords come in lots of variations, from broadsword (bigger handle and impact much damage, but heavier to lift) to a thin one like the Katana (Japanese traditional samurai sword). Lightweight and fast, but doesn’t very challenging to use!
DAGGER
One single blade or a pair of smaller pointed, edged weapon that looks like a knife. Handy and fast, but don’t impact too much damage. Example: the one used by Kunoichi, a female ninja of Samurai Warriors 1.
SPEAR, LANCE / TRIDENT
A middle-ranged weapon with a long shaft and pointed tip(s), used for thrusting or throwing. Used by some samurai warriors as their main weapon (Yukimura Sanada. Nagamasa Azai, Tadakatsu Honda etc.). A cool alternative to swords.
BOW
A long-ranged weapon for shooting arrows typically made of a curved piece of wood whose ends are joined with a taut string. Faster and quite deadly, but need some concentration and a pair of sharp eyes. (used by Inahime, daughter of Tadakatsu Honda)
CLAWS
A pair of scissor-like weapon resembling a hand and fingers (just like Freddy Krueger’s). A deadly weapon in close range (painful, imagine a cat’s claws scratching on your skin!) But I’m not sure it was really exist in the history! (Used by Hanzo Hattori and some other characters, especially ninjas).
NINJA WEAPONS (Ninja stars / nunchaku, etc.)
No need to explain, you’ve watched Naruto already!
FIREARMS
It’s not much to explain. There’s a wide range of firearms from pistols to guns. They are strong, but sometimes a shooting game needs the player to reload their arms. Surprisingly, in feudal Japan they were used, too... Is that true in the history? Please inform me more if you know the truth. (In SW2: Used by Ieyasu Tokugawa, Masamune Date, and Magoichi Saika).
UMBRELLA, FOLDING FAN, etc.
WHATTT? ^_^ OK, these are just fancy weapons in Samurai or Dynasty Warriors Series! But I still wander if they were really used. Hahaha...

Do you notice some differences between these two pics of Dancer Okuni of Izumo? She’s the same person in Koei’s PlayStation2 Games Samurai Warriors Series (1&2). Yes, she’s the one Shichigatsu (Actually, she's my girlfriend... oops, not really, Gal! But I’d love to ^_^!) uses as an icon/avatar in her sweet brand new blog. The 1st Okuni is a character of the 1st Samurai Warriors. She looks much younger, innocent and pretty. Maybe she’s still in her teens. But the 2nd Okuni from Samurai Warriors 2 is a bit more grown up; sexier, and of course as attractive as a blooming flower. Same face, same weapon (the dancing parasol) but... pardon me, bigger busts (ahem!), more attractive costume colors, and if you play the game, you’ll hear her soft, mesmerizing voice. As a gamer, I like to play as her in the battle. Beside my alter-ego Kanetsugu Naoe, she’s indeed my female favorite character!
Which one do you like? I love both of them... but it’s your choice.

08.30.08 (10:49 pm) [edit]The ending of Kanetsugu's story in Samurai Warriors 2. After they won the final battle against the final rival Tokugawa Clan, Kanetsugu & his friends didn't forget their deceased friend Mitsunari Ishida.
Fifth Scene - Edge of Reason
08.30.08 (10:40 pm) [edit]Kanetsugu won his battle against his rival Masamune Date, but he lost his friend Mitsunari. Thought that it was his mistake, he decided to take "hara-kiri", a Japanese suicide ritual because the lost of honor. But Keiji Maeda rescued his life... and once again Kanetsugu decided to fight in the name of honor.

08.30.08 (10:32 pm) [edit]This is official scene too. Kanetsugu won the wars, but Mitsunari, his best friend, lost and his whereabouts was unknown. He might be dead. It made Kanetsugu felt sad.. but Keiji encouraged him, because his war hasn't over yet. A danger of ambush had been waiting for his army, Masamune Date's numerous soldiers were waiting to crush his in Hasedo.

After Nobunaga's death, the power of Masamune Date from the northern side of Japan was growing too fast. When Hideyoshi Toyotomi and his clan prepared to attack Odawara Castle, Kanetsugu Naoe and Mitsunari Ishida had a conversation about the meaning of "Honor". This is the first time they met Yukimura Sanada. The three young men then decided to fight together under the oath of honor.
